Top 5 Nudist-Friendly Beaches in The Netherlands

If you prefer going to the beach, the Netherlands is a great destination. There are many locations that are great for family outings or visits with friends, but for individuals who like to indulge in pleasant social nudity while on the beach, there are also many nudist or clothing-optional beaches.

1. Callantsoog

The oldest recognized nudist beach in the Netherlands is Callentsoog. Following a significant court decision over public nudism, it became official in 1973. There is plenty of space for tourists to enjoy themselves on the sandy beach, which is almost 2 km long.

However, visitors should take care not to leave the clearly marked nudist area, which is located between the 14.50 and 16.80 poles. The beach pavilion at pole 14.80 is a well-liked location for refreshments, but as the terrace is just beyond the nudist area, it is required that you wear clothing there.

2. Zandvoort

Due to the large number of white sand dunes present there, Zandvoort is one of the most well-liked beach destinations in the Netherlands. Between poles 68 and 71, a 3-kilometer stretch of land is designated as a nudist area for people to enjoy. Throughout this stretch of beach, there are six beach pavilions, some of which even allow guests to get down and dirty on the patio.

Because each pavilion has its own set of restrictions, it is always recommended to double-check before going barefoot: Some pavilions make their rules readily visible to visitors. If you want to try something unusual to eat, Maribaya offers Indonesian food, Paal 69 offers international cuisine made with humanely sourced ingredients, and Ganpati offers delectable vegetarian fare.

3. Het Twiske

Het Twiske’s beach area is clearly segregated into areas for nudists and non-nudists. After a brief shutdown, the nudist area (Baaiegatstrand) underwent significant improvements in time for the 2011 season. Following the restoration work, the beach has seen an increase in popularity in recent years. It is now more aesthetically pleasing, hygienic, and roomy than before.

This is an excellent beach for people who are not strong swimmers because the water is quite shallow and clear of pond vegetation. For those who want to play a quick game, there is also a volleyball court and a court for boules/pétanque on the beach. Sadly, there are no beach pavilions within the nudist area, although there are clothing-optional eating and drinking establishments nearby.

4. Bussloo

Bussloo is one of the biggest nude beach zones, with broad grassy spaces for sunbathing and smaller patches of sandy beach. There are restrooms, shops, and a designated swimming area on the property. It is the perfect area for swimming because the water becomes deeper gradually.

5. Scheveningen

Due to its proximity to The Hague, this Scheveningen beach sees high summer tourist traffic. Between poles 96.5 and 98, roughly 1 kilometer north of the main beach area, is where the nudist area begins.

For this section of the beach, there are two beach pavilions, and additional restrooms are also provided. To safeguard the privacy of beachgoers, beach rules forbid the use of any form of recording equipment on this beach.
