This is the greatest surviving instance of a British colonial settlement in North America.

To protect the town’s identity, the locals have put many efforts into conserving the wooden architecture of public buildings and houses. As a result, the town has maintained its authentic and overall structure until now.

Lunenburg was cited as a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1995.

Here are some must-visit spots when coming to Luneburg. Besides, we also offer options for residing and eating in Lunenburg Nova Scotia. So, don’t skip our post so soon!

This National Historic Site was built in 1793. The Lunenburg Heritage Society is responsible for running the House. And it’s totally free for people of all ages.

The site illustrates the daily lives of Lunenburg’s very first settlers and their offspring. Well-suited guides will lead you on a tour of this place. The tour is about the local’s life during the turn of the 19th century. You will see many Georgian architectural elements here, such as the famous Lunenburg Bump. Lunenburg Bump is an overhanging dormer at the hub of the front entry, which is impressive to the place.

You will have a chance to witness several temporary and permanent exhibitions as well.

This museum sits inside a bright red building on the waterfront of Lunenburg Nova Scotia. There is a large aquarium with a wide range of hands-on activities. Also, the museum offers multiple displays as well as the Ice House Theatre.

It was the ice house for the fish processing plant on the 3rd floor. However, the floor now serves as a place for showing educational movies throughout the day.

Getting bored of the tour inside, let’s go outside and climb aboard Theresa E. Connor, the oldest dory schooner in Canada. Or you can take a look at a more humble option nearby, Cape Sable, a steel-hulled side trawler. Retired captains and fishermen on these vessels will be your historic interpreters.

Bluenose II

Bluenose appeared and sailed for the first time in 1921.  It was the fastest racing schooner in the world. And it has held its unrivaled position for 17 years.

The figure on the Canadian dime is Bluenose II, for your information. Later on, the government produced Bluenose II as a replica version of the schooner. And now it serves as the sailing ambassador of Nova Scotia.

Let’s experience the 2-hour sail to relive Bluenose II’s glory days.
