Plenty of empty benches and a view of the sunset from the lake make it a leisurely place to enjoy autumn leaves.
If you’re looking for more to do, the Centennial Parklands Equestrian Center right next door allows you to try horseback riding through the park.
Royal Botanical Garden
Australia’s oldest botanical garden is also brimming with leafy paths that fill with reds, oranges, and yellows in autumn. Throughout the year, there’s plenty to see, with seasonal tours of the garden’s signature flora and guided tours like the Royal Botanic Gardens’ Aboriginal heritage tour family, allowing you to hear stories about the Cardinals.
Traveling here is also easy, with easy bus and train connections around the city center.

The Camellia Gardens, which are near Caringbah and overlook the lovely Yowie Bay, are incredibly breathtaking in the autumn when the camellia blossoms are in bloom.

Wahroonga Park
Wahroonga Park, a tiny but genuinely beloved park, is a unique and lovely haven for North Shore mothers! The accessible, roomy park is located in the center of Wahroonga Village, and the updated playground has offered mothers the chance to relax. At the same time, the children, from babies to tweens, amuse themselves.
Where the azaleas are planted, parts of this park close to Wahroonga Station turn into a stunning palette of reds in the fall.
Rumsey Rose Garden
Within Parramatta Park, there is a lovely municipal heritage rose garden called the Rumsey Heritage Rose Garden. It is a special garden with more than 500 varieties of roses that the Rumsey family contributed, together with a few deciduous trees that give the gardens a golden glow in the autumn.
In addition, the nearby Murray Gardens have magnificent, distinctive landscaping that highlights the historic water patterns created by its ponds and water features, including the picturesque stone bridge built in the convict era over Murray Gardens Creek.

Cattai National Park
The Cattai National Park is a sizable area with numerous picnic shelters and woodfire barbeque sites on the south bank of the Hawkesbury River. As the region is ideal for outdoor activities like waterskiing, wakeboarding, and canoeing, and space for the kids to run about and ride their bikes or even spend a weekend family camping, this would be a terrific site for families with older children.
The campground is covered in autumn leaves in May, creating a romantic ambiance. The plane and maple trees that line the river’s banks turn Hawkesbury into a stunning kaleidoscope of hues that range from deep reds to bright yellows.

Blue Mountains Botanic Gardens, Mount Tomah
Witness a spectacular spectacle as trees are lit up in red, orange, and gold. One of the most well-liked autumn displays in the Blue Mountains is at the Botanic Gardens, and this year’s ideal weather — a mix of warm days and cool nights — produced an especially striking display of color!
Before the leaves change color in May, visitors are encouraged to stop by. For extra-special exhibits, they should also check out the Plant Explorers Walk, Brunet Garden, Formal Garden, and the trees close to the Visitor Center.
Southern Highlands
Because many of the village’s deciduous trees were planted in the late 1800s to give Bowral a more English appearance, Bowral is only a two-hour journey away and comes alive with autumn color.
The oaks on Station Street and the deciduous trees and shrubs at Buskers End at St. Clair Street put on a fantastic display in the autumn that is well worth the trip.
