This nationwide treasure is in the corner of the Northwest side of Arnhem Land. It describes ancient human work of at least the preceding 55,000 years.

This sacred region has crystal-clear pools and ample fishing holes. Especially, it has the most prolific and colorful rock art on the globe. Some of which portray the very first communication between Aboriginals and Europeans. These illustrations are obviously recognizable with rifles and sailing ships.

Meanwhile, the West side has the well-known Larapinta Trail and other highlights such as Palm Valley, Standley Chasm, Ormiston Gorge, etc.

And when visiting this region, you should spend some time in the Gunya Titjikala community. Enjoying the premier tents, and discovering priceless art collections and Dreamtime stories will boost your experience here to a whole greater level.

Windjana locates nearby the Tunnel Creek National Park in the Kimberley. The amazing Gorge was originally formed by a Devonian reef system that aged 375 million years old. And it was the Napier Range that carved the mountain range. Its walls rise to over 100m high, and its bed is wider than 100m.

According to Dreamtime legends of the locals, during the wet season, the river rages because of the spirit Wandjina. Wandjina is also the one that named the gorge. In the dry season, the weather is ideal for canoeing. You can have a chance to appreciate the amazing rock art in the cave system of Tunnel Creek.

The creations here tend to describe illustrations of the Wandjina habitual creation being or Gwion Gwion figures.
