Canada Has 3 Of The World’s 10 Most Livable Cities In 2022

Although Toronto and Vancouver are popular Canadian cities, it turns out that Calgary is the finest location to live – at least this year.

The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) and the 2022 Global Liveability Index have announced their yearly ranking of the world’s most livable cities, and Canada is the largest winner, with three winners. Its city was ranked among the top ten.

Cowtown, as it is commonly called, was not only the highest-ranked Canadian city on the list, but it was also ranked third worldwide.

The index ranks 172 cities worldwide based on more than 30 characteristics such as access to healthcare, green areas, cultural and sporting activities, crime rates, and facility infrastructure. There for we have World’s 10 Most Livable Cities In 2022

The premise of livability is straightforward: it determines which areas of the world offer the best or worst living circumstances. The EIU defines a score of 1 as “unsatisfactory,” while a score of 100 is “excellent.”

Every year, many North American and Western European cities receive top accolades on this list, and this year was no exception. Vienna, Austria, came in top, followed by Copenhagen, Denmark. Third place was shared by Zurich, Switzerland, and Calgary, Canada. Vancouver follows closely behind in fifth position.

However, issues such as war, instability, and the ability to cope with COVID influence the rankings, thus there are some significant differences between this year’s rating and the 2021 list.

Calgary, Canada’s third largest metropolitan, has risen 15 positions since 2021, thanks to the city’s early relaxation of pandemic limits. The city received a rating of 96.3.

With a score of 96.1, Vancouver, which dropped out of the Top 10 in 2021, is trailing Calgary.

Toronto has risen to eighth place after slipping out of the top ten in 2021.

Auckland, New Zealand has dropped to 33rd position this year, a significant dip from last year’s first rating, which is understandable given the country’s decision to restrict its borders due to the pandemic and enable people to go about their lives. I lead a rather normal existence.

Similarly, while Australia won four spots in the top ten last year due to its high quality of life and few limitations during the epidemic, three of those cities – Brisbane, Adelaide, and Perth – slipped out of the top ten this year when compared to the rest of the world. COVID limitations have been lifted.

According to the research, “Western European and Canadian cities dominate the top of our rankings.” “Due to high rates of COVID-19 immunization and the relaxation of restrictions, life in these cities is practically back to normal.”

The Economist warns that no position is ahead of, and that next year’s ranking could look very different due to growing inflation, gasoline costs, and fluctuating food shortages.

“This year’s positive boost in liveability may be fleeting,” according to the journal.
