In Toronto, there are many lovely conservation areas, and this one leads directly over a waterfall. Beautiful for a spring hike, Belfountain Conservation Park will soon reopen.
The picturesque location, which is in Belfountain, will open on April 29 for the 2023 season. The park is well-known for its trails, waterfall-fronting suspension bridges, and limestone cliffs.
From the parking lot, take the Gorge Trail or Accessible Pathways to uncover this secret swing bridge. The “tough” Gorge Trail ascends the river valley and passes through outcrops of the Niagara Escarpment.
Wheelchairs and strollers are able to pass across the Accessible Pathways because they are “flat and wide.”
You may walk right over a roaring waterfall on the imposing swing bridge, which is a beautiful spot to take in the scenery. While standing on the bridge, you could also take some stunning pictures.
Other lovely elements of the park include riverfront boardwalks and the “iconic “belle” fountain.” Along the new boardwalk walkway, The Fox Folly statue is also to be found.
Although reservations are no longer necessary, you can still book online in advance if you wish to guarantee your position. Bookings can be made starting on April 24 and give you two hours to look around.
In spring, explore some of the other nearby protected sites. If you visit Terra Cotta and Island Lake Conservation Area on the same day, the Belfountain admission fee covers both of these lovely natural retreats.
