Essex County is home to the picturesque natural region known as Point Pelee National Park. It is the “southmost point of the Canadian mainland,” and is encircled by the azure seas of Lake Erie.
In addition to its hiking and biking paths, bathing area, and natural diversity, the park is widely recognized for its birding opportunities.
The west and east sides of Point Pelee National Park are bordered by 20 kilometers of fine sand beaches, so make sure to bring your swimsuit. The beaches with the most restrooms, changing rooms, and picnic places are Northwest Beach and West Beach.
