Get into the holiday mood at Ottawa’s European-style Christmas market, which offers delicious cuisine, hot beverages, traditional kiosks, and a joyful ambiance.
The Ottawa Christmas Market takes over the outdoor plaza at Lansdowne in the bustling Glebe district every year on weekends and select additional days running up to Christmas. Seasonal food and drink (including alcoholic beverages), local goods at vendor cabins, glittering displays, and live performances are all part of the free celebration.

Take a stroll through the European-style Christmas Booths
With unusual finds and a lively ambiance to enjoy, you can get something for everyone on your Christmas list! With some mulled wine and pals, you’ll enjoy browsing these European-style Christmas stalls. Cheese, chocolate, coffee, candles, seasonings and sauces, socks, and other items will be available for purchase. Investigate over 35 vendors. There’s much to pique your interest!

You’ll be able to roam around the market with refreshments like mulled wine this year, making it a true, traditional Christmas market. I’m looking forward to getting cozy in my winter coat, sipping mulled wine, and visiting the market!

Attend A Live Performance
There are 15 days of entertainment and fun. There are plenty of genres and excellent artists to enjoy at the Ottawa Christmas market, from DJs to bands to solo artists. While sipping your hot beverage, take enjoy a free show.
Look through the Light Installations
With lights and installations across the plaza, the market will be a photographer’s dream! As you go around, you’ll experience all the Christmas spirit! This includes the lights that will be strung on the market’s roof! Remember to prepare your camera/phone.
At a Silent Disco, you can dance the night away
This is a one-of-a-kind event available at this year’s Ottawa Christmas market! Everyone has headphones to listen to the live DJ. Everything goes silent as soon as you remove your headphones. The Silent Disco will be held on December 10th from 10 p.m. to 12 a.m. There is no need to register, but there are only 200 headphones available, so arrive early.
Go ice skating
The Lansdowne Rink is located in front of the Aberdeen Pavillion, next to the Ottawa Christmas Market. I recommend going during the off-season because it will almost certainly be crowded. If you’re seeking additional places to skate in Ottawa, check out my skating guide here.
Take a photo with Santa
At this Christmas market, there are numerous opportunities to encounter Santa himself.
Santa will be visiting the market on Saturdays and Sundays from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. If you have a pet, please be sure to register ahead of time for a photo with Santa on November 27th and December 10th from 10 am-12 pm. On December 22nd, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., you can skate with Santa.
Visit the Ottawa Farmers Market
The Ottawa Farmers Market includes a Christmas edition inside Aberdeen Pavillion on Saturdays and Sundays. Make sure to stop by the Christmas market during the day!

Opening week
The Ottawa Christmas Market opens at 5:30 p.m. on November 25th. You’ll be among the first to visit the market, and you’ll be able to participate in the official tree-lighting ceremony. Lansdowne’s Christmas tree is one of my favorite Christmas trees in Ottawa! Everyone congregates around the tree! It’s the ideal way to start the holiday season!
