It’s that time of year when everyone is thinking about their upcoming travels, so if you’re looking for some travel inspiration, look no further.
There are two Canadian cities on Forbes’ list of the top 23 destinations for travel in 2023, so you don’t even need to leave the country to arrange some enviable excursions.
Two Western Canadian cities, Victoria and Edmonton, were honored among international locales like Sicily, Istanbul, Sri Lanka, and Tasmania.
Edmonton
Forbes singled out the capital of Alberta as one of Canada’s top cities, describing it as a “vibrant metropolitan center in the heart of the wilderness.”
The city’s culinary culture also received praise, with mentions of RGE RD and Fu’s Repair Shop in Edmonton, both of which Simu Liu and Andrew Phung recently visited.
The amazing craft beer sector in Edmonton, particularly the seven renowned establishments on Happy Beer Street, such as Alley Cat Brewing Co., The Monolith, and Sea Change Brewing Co., was also recommended by Forbes.
The rich Indigenous history of Edmonton alone is worth a trip to the city. The Indigenous Peoples Experience at Fort Edmonton Park and Elk Island National Park, as well as the Whiskeyjack Art House and Bearclaw Gallery.
There are also a ton of enjoyable (and, most importantly, cost-free) activities you can partake in a while in the city, such as touring a distillery or going to Edmonton’s Neon Sign Museum.

Victoria
The “charming” city of Victoria, which was praised for its sustainability and regard for and appreciation of the local First Nations populations, is the second Canadian city Forbes suggested visiting.
There are many carbon-neutral hotels in the city, and you might visit Big Wheel Burger, a fast-food restaurant. In order to fully experience the breathtaking wildlife that Vancouver Island has to offer, there are also options for whale tours that are both carbon-neutral and ocean-friendly.
