This breathtaking climb near Toronto is worth a day trip because spring is a great time to explore the outdoors. Dreamy waterfalls and a charming old village can be found in the Ball’s Falls Conservation area.
This picturesque natural haven is situated in Lincoln’s Twenty Valley and offers a number of paths to explore, including the Forest Frolic Trail (850 meters), Switch Back Trail (725 meters), and Cataract Trail (1.7 km).
A well-liked trail is the Cataract Trail. It leads to both Upper Ball’s Falls and Lower Ball’s Falls and takes you on a lovely journey down Twenty Mile Creek.
Both cascades’ landscape, which is “in full splendor” in the spring, is available for viewing. You can observe the Upper Falls from above or make your way down to the bottom for a new perspective as the cascades cascade over the brink of the Niagara Escarpment. Nearby Lower Falls can be found.
Glen Elgin, a historic settlement, is also located inside the conservation area. A blacksmith shop, flour mill, rebuilt church, and the original family home of the Balls may all be seen on tour along the Cataract Trail. It was a “thriving industrial mill town” in the 1800s.
The region is transformed into a sparkling Christmas wonderland during the holidays, and the waterfall is lit up. Every year, the region also holds a Thanksgiving Festival featuring merchants, live music, food, and other activities.
