1. The Amsterdam East King’s Day Festival
During King’s Day, the Watergraafsmeer comes alive with the Bredeweg Festival. At the flea market, both young and old offer the most exquisite items. Many theatrical companies, musicians, and street performers take the stage.
Even a children’s opera can be seen on the street. There is a ton of entertainment for kids, including merry-go-round rides, a circus, a fun fair, kiddie shows, face painting, and more. Plenty of nice food and drink are also provided. By the neighborhood for the neighborhood, the Bredeweg Festival is put on.

King’s supper
When: April 26, 5-9 pm
The Koningsmaal, Watergraafsmeer’s most exquisite royal street party, is one of the year’s highlights. Hundreds of neighbors gather around long picnic tables for dinner. Beginning on April 1, dinner cards will be available at Café 1900. Don’t be late; once gone, gone forever.
Opera on the street
When: April 26, 9-10.30 pm
What makes an Opera on the Street so unique? This annual tradition will continue this year with the Dutch National Opera Academy’s talented performers of the comedic opera Happiness by a Thread. And this year’s children’s production of “Be Opera” offers a unique opportunity for young neighbors.
King’s Day Festival
When: April 27, 7 am-6 pm
Early in the morning, make your move on the open market. On the six stages, there are a variety of performances throughout the day by local actors, musicians, and theater companies. Let yourself be startled by the many street performers. And savor the delectable cuisine and beverages served by the neighborhood food trucks and catering businesses.
