For three kings in a row, these lions seem to be pretty relaxed and carefree – but that might be because Samburu, Shenzis and Shomba are brothers.
The three intimate portraits of big cats were captured by LA-based photographer Simon Needham.
Captured at the South Africa conservation sanctuary site GG, Needham’s photos of the three brothers are a brilliant contrast to the dramatic Lion King-esque shot of a pride king standing on a pile of bones he shot last year.

These restful shots have a different flavour altogether. But Simon says it isn’t always good news between the trio.
He said: ‘These guys are brothers and they love to hang out together as a group. They are very loving towards each other usually. However, just like other brothers they can get feisty.
‘When people see my photos of the three of them, I get an overwhelming response that they are amazed to see three such handsome lions together and so comfortable with one another.
‘It is so heart-warming to see them hanging out like this, they are very happy lions.’
