‘I spend a lot of time in Kruger, and I’ve never seen anything like this before,’ said Ms Ewald, 51.
I came across this breeding herd in the early morning hours and stopped a safe distance away to enjoy their company.
‘I immediately saw this particular female, with her baby and incredibly huge breasts visible from the sides,’ she says.
‘It was incredible to behold, and I just managed to record the moment her full ‘double d’ breasts were shown right in front of me,’ she claimed.
‘People were startled by the resemblance of this female elephant’s and human females’ breasts – I knew elephant’s breasts sit in front, but it was remarkable to see the resemblance.
‘It was a lightening moment in my thoughts, and I thought,’she looks like a woman,” she says.
‘I love elephants, and I’m always eager to see them, especially the breeding herds with all the young ones,’ Ms Ewald said.
‘This sighting was particularly exceptional since they were so cheerful and full of excitement.
‘I hope these photographs help people gain more respect for elephants – they carry their offspring for 21 months, and then they are slaughtered so inhumanely for their ivory,’ says the photographer.
‘It truly kills your heart,’ she says.
‘They are incredibly clever animals with strong familial relationships – they have so many parallels to people and should be treated with the same amount of respect,’ she added.
