The easy hike in Waterton Lakes is hard to top if you’re seeking to visit somewhere other than Banff or Jasper. Alberta is known for having some really fantastic hikes.
If you’re in the region, you must see Red Rock Canyon in Waterton Lakes National Park. At less than a kilometer in length, it’s also a fairly simple climb.
You’ll feel like you’ve traveled a million miles when you arrive at the extraordinary canyon, which is only a short distance from the parking lot and is surrounded by breathtaking mountain views, a stream of crystal-clear water, and stunning red rock.
On a bright day, it’s the ideal spot to dip your toes in and take in the view.
According to All Trails, if you’re searching for a longer trail, you can continue from the canyon to Blakiston Falls, which is still an easy 2.4 kilometers.
The Parks Canada website states that Red Rock Pkwy will return around May 1 despite being seasonally closed to automobiles.
If you’re up for it, Waterton Lakes is also home to a rugged hiking track that National Geographic has dubbed one of the “most thrilling trails” in the world.
