Normanville Beach: South Australia’s Great Family Beach Vacation

It’s easy to understand why Normanville Beach in South Australia (SA) is one of the most popular destinations and a terrific site for a family beach vacation. Read our article if you want to learn more about this beautiful beach before going there.

1. How to get to Normanville beach

It takes roughly one hour and fifteen minutes to drive from Adelaide’s central business district to Normanville. Driving there is simple, especially thanks to the Southern Expressway.

A wonderful grassy spot overlooking the beach with some shady trees is perfect for a picnic and for eating lunch or dinner without getting sand in your teeth.

2. Normanville Town

The Fleurieu Coast’s major seaside community is Normanville. The village is situated in the middle of a 7.3-kilometer-long beach, with low Haycock Point to the north and Lady Bay and 100-meter-tall Yankalilla Hill to the south.

The Haycock Point and Normanville Jetty offer the best shore fishing. Small boats can be launched from the beach at Normanville to access the gulf, although it is advisable to assess the beach’s condition and the marine environment before attempting to launch.

3. Things to do in and near Normanville beach

The best place to learn to surf

A safe swimming area between the flags is provided by the Surf Patrol on weekends at the Normanville Surf Club, which is located quite close to the jetty. This beach is typically tranquil with small waves, making it especially safe for young children. The sea is clear, and the sand is gentle.

Riding a horse on Normanville Beach

Normanville Beach may not offer much to surfers, but it does to horseback riders. One of the nicest things to do in the area is take a ride along the beach, and High Country Trails provides just that.

Horseback riding excursions with High Country Trails last an hour and travel along the shore and the backs of the dunes. The fee for these horseback riding excursions in the area is $80 per person, and the maximum weight is 95 kg.

Let’s try skydiving

Skydiving is the other major activity that takes place in Normanville Beach. You can land on the beach by ejecting from an aircraft here.

The golf course at Links Lady Bay

The Links Lady Bay golf course is one of the additional things to do in the area. This golf course, which is a part of the Links Lady Bay Resort, is widely regarded as one of the best in South Australia.

The most opulent lodging option in the region is the Lady Bay Hotel, which is adjacent, although caravan parks provide a more affordable option.

Other attractions for visitors

In actuality, Normanville beach’s accessibility to all necessary amenities makes it a great vacation destination. Less luggage to pack while traveling is always a plus.

If you can’t find what you need on Main Street, Yankalilla is just a 2-minute drive away and has a larger Foodland, bakery, Browse In and Save, Yankalilla Hotel, Youth Park with playground, skate park, and more. It also has the Normanville Hotel, bakery, chemist, fantastic surf shop (well stocked with all your favorite surf brands), eateries, and beauty salon.

4. Dining options in the area

When open on weekends and evenings, the Surf Club and food truck in the parking lot both provide ice cream, snacks, and meals. The restrooms are located near the parking lot entrance. We adore the fish and chip shop that is located back on the main drag.

5. Accommodations for visitors

There are two caravan parks. The Beachside Caravan Park is only two minutes away on Cape Jervis Road, while the Pier Caravan Park overlooks the jetty at Normanville Beach.

You can rent a lot of vacation houses or the nearby communities of Carrickalinga, Yankalilla, and Second Valley. The Links Lady Bay Resort offers a touch of luxury together with a championship golf course and our personal favorite, South Shores villas.
