There are so many simple walks in Alberta to get you started if you’re already daydreaming of spending the summer exploring the stunning Rocky Mountains.
This 5-kilometer trip in Kananaskis offers a variety of scenery, including stunning mountain views, lush greenery, and a lake that almost seems to be made of mirrors.

It takes under two hours to drive from Calgary to Black Prince Cirque in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park, making it the ideal mountain day trip.

According to All Trails, the elevation gain on the Warspite Lake trail is only 182 meters, making it manageable for beginners to hike. Despite the trail’s relative ease, you’ll still have plenty of photo opportunities.

Although the hike only lasts for about an hour and a half, you could easily spend more time relaxing by the lake because it’s the ideal place to have a snack and take in the scenery.

The trailhead for Black Prince Cirque also serves as the beginning point for a different trip that leads to Blackshale Suspension Bridge, allowing you to complete a full day of hiking in the region.
