These sandbars are covered with boundless natural beauty, from secret treasures tucked away in idyllic coves to well-liked beach resorts. It’s time to start organizing that trip to a sandy beach now that summer is almost here.
1. North Beach
More than 1,200 meters of Lake Ontario’s sand beach and another 800 meters of North Bay’s pristine shoreline may be found at North Beach. It’s a picture-perfect location to spend a summer day with its gentle coastlines and clear seas.
2. Point Pelee
Point Pelee, which has 20 kilometres of sandy beaches, is a lovely summer vacation spot. On a gentle sandbar, you can make your way to the “southernmost point of the Canadian mainland.”
3. Bathtub Island
In Lake Superior Provincial Park, you can find this special natural marvel. You can go to a water-filled rock that has been hollowed out and resembles a huge bathtub. From the beach, a thin sandbar connects to the island.
4. Sandbanks Provincial Park
At this magnificent provincial park, you’ll think you’re in Florida. You can soak up the sun on plush dunes and plunge into the azure ocean in Sandbanks, which is home to “the largest freshwater dune and sandbar formation in the world.”
5. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park
Wasaga Beach, with its 14 kilometers of white sands, is known as “the longest freshwater beach in the world.” You can take advantage of the warm, shallow seas dotted with sandbars.
6. Long Point Provincial Park
This beautiful park, one of the oldest in Ontario, with a 40-kilometer sandspit. It’s a lovely location for a warm-weather trip, with beaches that have soft sand and warm water.
