1. Saint Donan inspired the naming of Eilean Donan Castle.
Saint Donan, an Irish bishop who lived on the island at the beginning of the seventh century, is the name of the castle.
Between roughly 550 and 17 April 617, Saint Donan, also known as Saint Donnán of Eigg, lived. He was likely of noble parentage and of Irish ancestry.
He gained notoriety for his initiatives to spread Christianity among the Picts in northwest Scotland.
Later, at their monastery on the Scottish island of Eigg, Saint Donan and 52 of his monks were killed.

2. The 13th century saw the construction of the Eilean Donan Fortified Structure.

10. You Can Visit Eilean Donan Castle
