1. Whistler Blackcomb
The top ski resort in Canada, Whistler Blackcomb, is owned by Vail Resorts and features top-notch amenities and skiing. It is the largest ski resort in North America due to the terrain of these two mountains combined.
Snow is always available in Whistler Blackcomb, thanks to its great location in the mountains just inland from the ocean. The resort receives 35.5 feet of snow on average each season. The charming Whistler Village is located at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb.
2. Lake Louise Ski Resort
One of Canada’s most well-known resorts is Lake Louise, which is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains and is only a short drive from the town of Banff. Majestic views of the Bow Valley, the nearby mountains, and the opulent Fairmont Château Lake Louise may be seen from the slopes.

4. Big White Ski Resort
Big White is renowned for its fantastic powder days, expansive views, a wealth of intermediate runs, and well-balanced beginner and expert terrain. There are several convenient hotel alternatives, including ski-in/ski-out lodging, at this fantastic family resort.
The mountain has more than 2,700 acres of terrain, 16 lifts, including a gondola, and 39 acres of nighttime lighting. Magnificent views of the surrounding area may be seen from the slopes. You can go tubing, snowmobiling, dog sledding, or ice climbing away from the ski slope. Big White often receives 26 feet of snow per season.
5. Revelstoke Mountain Resort
It takes a little longer to get to Revelstoke than other resorts, but the extra effort is well worth it. Revelstoke is situated in the interior of British Columbia, about a 2.5-hour drive from the city of Kelowna.
The mountain features few people, several powder days, and superb terrain, including open bowls, tree runs, and beginner zones. Here, you can often count on favorable weather because the resort typically gets 30 feet of snow per season.
In 2022–2023, skiers using the Ripper and Stella areas will notice some changes. With the grade changed, the Sally Alley run is now straighter, and the Chopper run is more fun. The Big Bend run has greatly expanded in the Stella area.
6. Sun Peaks Ski Resort
Even though Sun Peaks is the second-largest ski area in Canada, behind Whistler, it is still relatively unknown abroad and is even one of the less well-known resorts within its own borders.
Given the variety of terrain found over three mountains, including steeps, cruisers, and tree skiing, it is no surprise that this resort has something to offer everyone. Also, although there are many different slopes available, Sun Peaks is especially geared toward novice and intermediate skiers, making it a fantastic option for families.
7. SilverStar Mountain Resort
Family-oriented SilverStar Mountain Resort has a quaint hamlet at the foot of the slopes. The village’s structures are all brightly colored and constructed with a common theme.
The mountain’s varied terrain accommodates all skill levels. It features more expert terrain and significantly less beginner terrain than many other big resorts in British Columbia. One of the resort’s numerous selling factors is its superior snow, which contributes to an average seasonal total of 23 feet through frequent snowfalls of dry powder.
8. Kicking Horse Mountain Resort
Kicking Horse Mountain Resort, west of Golden, British Columbia, is less well-known on a global scale. It is three hours away from Calgary and is popular with families and avid skiers.
The mountain boasts a vertical drop of 4,133 feet, 24 feet of snow on average per season, amazing expert terrain, steeps, and fantastic hike-to-powder routes. Because the peak faces north, good snow conditions frequently persist. Beginner and intermediate routes can be found in three bowls that drain into softer terrain.
9. Red Mountain Resort
This remote ski area in British Columbia’s interior has long been a favorite of advanced and elite skiers and is renowned for its superb tree skiing. Red Mountain, accessible from Rossland, requires a little more time and preparation, but the rewards are uncrowded routes, a welcoming town with old-fashioned charm, and affordable costs. With an average snowfall of about 30 feet every season, the skiing and snow are on par with major destinations in Western Canada. The topography on the runs is a good combination of wide bowls, groomed lines, and glades.
A modest ski hamlet with hotels, restaurants, and ski-in/ski-out lodgings can be found at the mountain’s foot. Many visitors choose to stay in Fernie rather than at the resort because there are more dining and lodging alternatives, greater après-ski, better rates, and a more authentic ski-town atmosphere.
11. Mont Tremblant Ski Resort
Even though Quebec is home to some of the country’s top competitive skiers, little is known about skiing in this region. Tremblant offers fantastic skiing opportunities in eastern Canada and is conveniently located approximately 1.5 hours from Montreal and less than 2 hours from Ottawa.
The mountain has a total lift capacity of 27,230 skiers per hour, 665 acres of skiable terrain spread across four mountain faces, and a vertical drop of over 2,000 feet.
