Interestingly, the Netherlands is not just known for its tulips. Beautiful cherry blossom trees are another lovely sight to view in the spring! Here are the top places to admire cherry blossom season in big cities in the Netherlands.
1. When is cherry blossom season in the Netherlands?
The Netherlands’ cherry blossom season runs from late March until the end of April. However, don’t wait too long to snap those photos because the blossoms only last for a few weeks after the trees bloom.
There are several locations in the Netherlands where you may see these springtime beauties, so we’ve compiled a list of them. These are so stunning you won’t even need a filter, and they are ready for the ‘gram.
2. Where in the Netherlands can I find cherry blossom trees?
Amsterdam
It’s a sight you won’t want to miss when Amsterdamse Bos’ 400+ Japanese cherry trees blossom.
The Japanese Women’s Club of Amsterdam donated the cherry trees back in 2000. Each of these trees received a Dutch name, with half of them being male and the other half female.
You don’t want to make the long journey to Amsterdam Bos. A few trees are available in Westerpark for your enjoyment. Once more, this is the ideal location to capture some gorgeous pictures of the blushing beauties.
The Hague
You won’t have to look far to locate some blossoming trees if you’re in The Hague. You can experience a wide range of scenery by strolling along the Bankastraat, Prins Hendrikplein, or the Peace Palace tower.
Even if not all of them are cherry trees, they are all stunningly lovely blossoms. On the Sweelinckplein, there is also a yearly picnic in the cherry blossoms.
Rotterdam
If Rotterdam is more your style, get your cherry blossom fix in the Statensingel in Rotterdam-Blijdorp or the park next to the Euromast.
Utrecht
Without some beautiful blossoming trees, what would the Netherlands’ central region be? To get a romanticized view of Utrecht, go to the Valkstraat park in the city center.
Yet there’s good news if you want to leave the city center. The Netherlands River Region offers a multitude of pathways for the best bloom viewing. The well-known Appeldijk and Lingedijk pathways in Betuwe are ideal for walking or bicycling while seeing the fruit blooms.
Other locations
The village of Eijsden is worth visiting if you reside close to Limburg. There are many orchards in the town where you may see the blossoms, notably near the Eijsden Castle.
How about a road trip? In Zuid-Beverland in Zeeland, a 51km cycling route with an abundance of fruit blossoms is available if you want to take your time and make a day of it.
