The Best Time in 2023 To See Cherry Blossoms In Toronto

The eagerly awaited cherry blossom season has finally arrived in Toronto with the arrival of spring.

The peak cherry blossom bloom is expected to start on Thursday, according to the City of Toronto, and is expected to last between four and ten days, “depending on weather conditions.”

For many Torontonians, witnessing this yearly tradition is a must, and fortunately, there are numerous parks located all around the city where you can see the stunning cherry blossom trees for yourself.

During the next seven days, the city will experience a mix of sunshine and showers, according to Environment Canada’s meteorologists. There will be some warm and dry days to see the cherry blossoms in all their beauty, so despite the rain that may put a damper on things, don’t worry.

A high of 12 degrees will be reached on Thursday. However, the day will likely be cloudy with a risk of rain.

The week’s warmest day, Friday, is forecast to have a high of 22 degrees, but there is a 40% chance of showers all day. Rain is anticipated for Saturday, while sun and rain are anticipated for Sunday.

While Monday and Tuesday will be cooler, they are expected to be dry and without rain, giving them excellent days to see the stunning Sakura trees.

The High Park cherry blossom trees in Toronto are “approximately” 60 years old and have a fascinating backstory.

Back in 1959, the Japanese envoy to Canada presented these lovely Sakura trees to the citizens of Toronto.

The people of Tokyo wanted to express their gratitude to Toronto for accepting Japanese Canadians who had been evacuated after the Second World War.

The ongoing friendship and relationship between Japan and Canada, which is embodied by the Sakura trees, is ideal to remember and honor at this time of year, one that marks the 95th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries, according to a release from the Japanese Consulate General in Toronto, Sasayama Takuya.
