This gorgeous park in Ontario features waterfalls, sandy beaches, and a high bridge that crosses it. A wonderful location for an adventure and getting lost in nature is Pukaskwa National Park.
By the beaches of Lake Superior, the park is situated in Northern Ontario’s Thunder Bay region. It boasts “secluded sandy beaches,” “towering cliffs,” and an “isolated granite shore.”
The park offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including hiking, swimming, boating, and geocaching.
Horseshoe Beach, with its “crescent of golden sand” and “emerald-lake water,” is a well-liked spot for swimming. This location is along the easily accessible boardwalk leading from Hattie Cove Campground.
The White River Suspension Bridge Trail is yet another fantastic attraction in the park. Don’t expect to go on a leisurely stroll; the 18-kilometer hike contains some difficult terrain.
You pass through a “storybook forest” on your way to the 23-meter-high White River Suspension Bridge, which spans Chigamiwinigum Falls. You may walk directly across this tremendous waterfall and take in the views from above.
Additional highlights of the park include freshwater fishing, picnicking by beautiful waters, and the coastal paddling route that passes through sandy beaches.
As a three-season park, the park’s amenities are closed from November to May. In the warmer months, an adult day ticket costs $6.25.
