King’s Day, one of the most important holidays in the Netherlands, is quickly approaching. We adore this time of year when Dutch supermarkets are stocked with everything orange and everyone buys Heineken crates weeks in advance. King’s Day falls on April 27 this year. Be prepared!
6. See some windmills
As a huge fan of windmills when it comes to a tranquil walk and fresh Instagram photos, I usually suggest this one. Kinderdijk and Zaanse Schans are two of the most visited locations.
In addition to being distinctly Dutch, it’s also a fantastic place to cycle or have a stroll. Want to visit a windmill that isn’t overrun by tourists or want to view a windmill in the city? And there are plenty of those as well.
7. Take a mudflat stroll
Do you reside in the northern lowlands or have any interest in visiting them? This might be for you if you don’t mind getting down and dirty.
